Trapped in a dead-end job with a $5,000 monthly salary, half devoured by rent, no girlfriend, and a boss who berates him daily, one worker finds his only escape in a new virtual game. There, he commands a powerful bloodline, leads his own fleet, and rules a colonized planet gifted by a mysterious overlord. Though he believes it’s all fake, this digital world gives his life meaning. But the overlord knows the truth—this isn’t a game. He can’t reveal it, though, because if his “players” ever learned their fleets and planets were real, they’d stop being terrifyingly hardworking.
